VOC Testing

AirSurvey utilizes the latest technology for the analysis of air. It uses thermal desorption tubes to extract Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from the air, concentrate them onto a single thermal desorption tube, and then analyze them using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).

Some say that air quality is the most important factor in health and also well being, comfort, and productivity at home or in the office.

VOC testing is important for assessing the air quality in indoor spaces. VOCs are emitted by a variety of common household and office products, and can have both short-term and long-term health effects. VOC testing can help identify potential sources of VOCs in indoor air and provide information on how to reduce exposure.

There are a number of reasons to hire a professional for VOC testing:

– VOC testing is complex, and requires specialized equipment and training.

– VOC testing requires specific training and experience, and hiring a professional can help ensure that the test is done correctly and yields accurate results.

– Hiring a professional VOC tester can provide peace of mind, knowing that the air quality in your home or office is being properly assessed.

A professional VOC tester will use specialized equipment to take samples of indoor air and send them to a lab for analysis. The results of the test will identify the levels of VOCs present in the air, and can help to pinpoint potential sources of VOCs. VOC testing is an important part of assessing air quality in indoor spaces, and hiring a professional can ensure that the test is done correctly and yields accurate results.

AirSurvey utilizes the latest technology for VOC testing. It uses thermal desorption tubes to extract Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from the air, concentrate them onto a single thermal desorption tube, and then analyze them using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The analysis includes the determination of 60 VOCs quantitatively and another 350 VOCs semi quantitatively, plus we identify anything else displayed in the GC-MS chromatogram. If we cannot identify compounds specifically, we will identify their chemical functionality. This analysis is the best analysis available anywhere to answer the question “What’s in the air?” Consultation with an expert in data interpretation to translate the analysis into what the problem might be is included with the analysis. There is no extra charge for this consultation.

We have over 25 years of experience in the VOC testing and residential and occupation air quality testing and in the interpretation of analytical data.  Call us at 248-241-6713 to receive example reports, to discuss specific applications, or to answer any questions you might have.

VOC Testing

Do you need VOC testing? Don’t know what the problem is?

Do you have an odor complaint? Do you have an environmental question? Do you need air quality clearance testing? Do you wonder what’s in the air and don’t have a clue? Do you wonder if a certain product or material is producing bad chemicals that you or your staff have to breathe? If you have any of these questions, you need AirSurvey. We don’t just analyze samples, we solve problems. VOC testing provides a detailed report and identification of which chemicals are in the air. We cover hundreds of known chemicals. VOC testing could be the missing tool that solves your odor complaint problem or air quality problem. Don’t let air pollution ruin your home or business.

Homeowners We spend more time at home than anywhere else. Stay-at-home folks can spend nearly all of their time there. Those employed outside the home can still spend as much as 75% of their time there. That’s why it is important to ensure that the quality of the air we’re breathing at home is not negatively impacted by the presence of volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) and other contaminants. Fike Analytical Technologies specializes in the in-depth analysis of indoor air quality (IAQ). So, why should you want to improve your at-home IAQ? High levels of VOCs can contribute to: Exacerbation of asthmatic symptoms (especially in children) Shorter attention spans (especially in children) Odors Headaches Lethargy Nausea General malaise and discomfort Increase in cancer risk Increase in respiratory distress In addition, full evaluation of the IAQ in your home can uncover: The presence of hidden, actively growing mold The existence of conditions such as methamphetamine laboratories, spilled solvents, ground water contamination, gas leaks, and a myriad of other conditions, many of which may have been caused by previous occupants Current conditions caused by the homeowner that can be improved through changes in lifestyle and habits Don’t fall for the hype marketed by hucksters who claim they can solve all of your IAQ problems for $99.95. Well, the truth of the matter is that they can’t solve your IAQ problems and you’re wasting your money. Our investigators are available nation-wide and will work with you to do a full investigation of the IAQ in your home, including an on-site visit. They work directly with the Ph.D. Analytical Chemists at Fike Analytical Technologies to interpret the data, uncover potential problems, and suggest specific actions you can take to improve your IAQ. No other company or laboratory in the country can provide the level of experience and competence that is provided by Fike Analytical. Call us now at 248-241-6713.
